  1. Paul, excellent! I am excited to read. Congrats and good luck

    • Noah! Thanks for checking out the chapter and for the compliment.

  2. Paul- I loved the chapter…I know so many people that are in this same place and I know they’ll get a kick out of reading it!

  3. Oh my gosh, I related to this chapter so well! I turned down the first job a temp agency offered me after I moved to L.A. because it wasn’t what I wanted and the agent was shocked. Back then I wanted to work in the film/entertainment industry so knowing what I wanted wasn’t a problem. But now things are different. I’m not pursuing entertainment anymore, I’m not in L.A. anymore, and I don’t know what I want! Really glad I found your site and book – it has definitely grabbed my attention!

  4. When i 1st saw this book I thought hmmm just another blog-epreneur trying to make his name known. I sincerely apologize for that predjudgement. I LOVED what you read. I was not BRAVE like you. I took the 1st job the temp agency offered me as the “Director of 1st Impressions” at a shared office space company because I was terrified! I thought well hey “It’s a job.” Three years later I’m still an admin but at a much larger company trying to figure out how to get out of this role. I’m excited to read the rest of your book. KUDOS to you for going AGAINST the grain when so many of us including myself don’t have the courage to do so.

    • Thank you Nicole! Glad I could surprise :)

  5. Just finished the chapter and really liked it. I’m in a similar boat except I now have 2 part-time jobs that I enjoy a little bit, but know I don’t want to do it long term.

I’m looking forward to the rest of the book!

    • Thanks Chris!

  7. I was rippin’ and rarin’ to buy your book and then realized it doesn’t come out until Summer of this year! Bah! Can I have a signed copy? =)

    Lookin’ forward to your book!

  8. I just happened to stumble upon this website and subsequently, Chapter 2 of your book, while purposefully perusing the internet for some sort of insight or advice on what has slowly become my directionless, anxiety-inducing, twenty-something life. I’m glad I came across this and I found the comfort I was looking for in the excerpt from your book. When exactly does it come out this summer? It’s pretty cruel of you to reel me in like that and then make me wait months to read the rest!

    –Danielle

    • Danielle – Thank you so much for the compliments. And if you can believe the book launch has just been pushed back to March 2013. So now it’s an eight month wait!

I promise engaging content on All Groan Up in the meantime to cushion the blow :) . Thanks Danielle.

  9. Oh man oh MANO >.< I loved what I read so far!!! I'm 23 and I have a year left of school and really feeling anxiety about graduation. I'm not sure how ready I am for the real world. AAHHHH It scares me just thinking about it.

I've always been fascinated by other peoples journey and how they get from point A (wacky college kid, confused as all hell) to point B (a grown up, career bound, and content with where their life has gone). I'm looking forward to reading your book, your words say it right.

Good Luck getting the book finished and thanks for setting up this great site.

    • Thanks Cariela!

  10. This was God sen! Ha! I stumbled upon this amazing book after a long night of “googling” ways to find my passion in life. HILARIOUS!

  11. And yes….I meant “God sent!” Suppose I can cross off English Teacher. That leaves me with…..best “googler ever” position and…….

    • Ha! Too funny. Thanks Leah. I’d give you that googler position in a heart beat. The book will be out in March 2013 so keep checking back in.

  12. This chapter totally hit the nail on the head…in my worldwide quest to find what I’m truly passionate about, I love finding people who are struggling as well…it’s as comforting as looking over to the seat next to you on an international flight and realizing they are freaking out too because you’re about to land in a war zone. Beautiful!

    • Awesome! Thanks Marcie. Yep I’m right there with you

  13. I stumbled upon your site via pintrest. And after reading a few posts I started looking on amazon to buy your book for a Christmas gift. I’m disappointed it won’t be out til next spring, but im looking forward to it!

    • Thanks Christina for the extremely nice comment! I promise Spring will be here before you know it :) Thanks for the support.

  14. I think I am becoming a groupie and reading everything on this site!! I can’t wait for the book and have already started telling my friends. I loved reading this chapter. I was actually staffing at a temp agency out of college…now that is a whole new level there!

I am already trying to figure out how you can become the guest speaker for my former college, at my job, etc. ;)

    • Ha. Thank you so much Desiree. Would love to swap temp agency stories some day.

And I’m all for your guest speaking efforts :)

  15. helped me survive! Thank you so much!

  16. There is an old adage that says ” the best way to teach a lesson is to do it with humor” and that is exactly what you did here! I loved the chapter because, not only is it is well written, but it is also perfectly executed. You have certainly managed to shed light on what the reality of a 20 something looks likes! I cant wait for the book to come out!

    • Ester, you made my day. Thank you.

  17. This is so relatable and hilarious! I’m bummed I have to wait until next year to read the rest.

  18. Love this site and the chapter excerpt! I recently moved into my own apartment (first one w/o roomies) and got a job teaching. It’s all a little scary right now but reading this makes me feel better! Thanks :)

  19. This is wonderful. So true and relevant. I wish it was coming out sooner!

  20. Good Luck for the book release!!! :)

  21. Now you’ve given me something to look forward to for March 2013, Paul! Loved the chapter! I can’t wait to read the whole thing.

btw, your blog is one of my favorites on the internet.

    • Thanks Mak for this compliment. You’re awesome.

  22. Paul, this is amazing! I am 100% addicted to the website and am anxiously awaiting for the book. I needed this 5 years ago lol. So happy I came across your page and got the chapter from your book! Thank you for making me feel like I’m not losing my mind! You’re awesome!!

    • Thanks Leanne! Much, much appreciated.

  23. Utterly captivating. The chapter, the writing, the topic… all of it.

    • Thank you Erika for the extremely kind words. Much, much appreciated.

  24. I am so excited for your book to be released. This is going to bring so much freedom and renewed hope in people’s lives. I can’t even tell you how much your writing has impacted my life–it’s so great to know that we are not alone in our 20 something stuggles. Thank you for what you do.

    • Wow, thank you Britney for these encouraging words. Gives me that extra excitement and motivation to keep writing!

The book is going to be here before we know it. Can’t wait!

  25. Hi, Paul! As a fresh college graduate, I try to think seriously about my future life, and I struggle between what I want to do, and what I need/should do, and how to do it. So many friends of mine and college students come to me and tell me about their uncertainties and prayers for insights as they struggle on these steps (while “so do I”). Your book (or at least this chapter from the book) is a perfect source for the twentysomething generation to get armed with courage and learn how to start walking on those steps. I am really excited about this book, Paul! And I won’t hesitate to share your website with my friends! Thanks again! :)

  26. Thanks for the free eBook download, Paul. My birthday is in March so I will definitely be looking forward to reading your new book. Thanks again for providing us with this resource and the content of your website. It is truly interesting and amazing work. I will tell all my friends about it. Have a nice day.

    • Thanks Manuel!

  27. Hey! When will the book be available? Can’t wait to read it… :)

  28. I agree, I cant wait for the book to come out! It says spring of 2013 and its almost summer :) . Do you have a release date?
